Graphics, Sounds, and Animations

Seamen, by Nolimit City, is set on the deck of a boat, way out in the open ocean. The graphics are a little basic, but the comic book-style illustrations will certainly appeal to some players. And because the visuals are simple enough, you'll be able to really concentrate on the gameplay. Even the soundtrack is pared back - it's a slow tune, which mimics the motion of a boat on the rolling waves.

Gameplay

The gameplay here is pretty smooth sailing. The grid is shaped a bit like a cross, with reels 1 and 4 having three rows, and the middle reels having five each. Seamen has a default of 225 ways to win, but when special features kick in, this can increase. Wins pay out when matching symbols land on adjacent reels from left to right, but they don't need to land on specific paylines in other games.

The terrifying shark symbol pays out the most, followed by the sailor, the diver, and the pirate ship.

Wilds, Bonuses, and Free Spins

Seamen has a whole host of exciting special features, but we'll just mention the ones that we liked best.

Whenever you trigger a win, you'll be awarded a Respin on winning positions. Wins are paid out first, and then they disappear, leaving space for new symbols. The Multiplier increases by one with every Respin, and a special Fire Frame can be added to a different position. Winning symbols with Fire Frames have their position Multiplier increased by +2.

The xWAYS symbol will transform into one of the paying symbols whenever it lands on the grid. Each xWAYS symbol changes into two to four paying symbols, giving you extra ways to win.

If no winning combinations land during a spin, the Bomb feature will remove symbols from the grid based on their type, while also awarding Multipliers and Fire Frames.

Look out for the special Molotov Fire symbol, which transforms itself into a Wild and adds Fire Frame to all positions on the reel.

Land three of the Bonus symbols to trigger the Rigged Spins feature, with five Free Spins. Four Bonus symbols will get you into the Super Rigged round, where more Fire Frames are awarded.

Bet Sizes, RTP, and Variance

The game has a Return to Player (RTP) percentage of 96.04%, which is a little above average, but not outstanding. High volatility makes for exciting gameplay, and all the special features definitely add to the thrills. The minimum stake amount is $/€/£0.20 per spin and the maximum is $/€/£100, and with a maximum payout of 20,000x, you can stand a chance at a nice win.

Conclusion

We really liked the range of special features here, especially the Fire Frame and Multipliers. The unique shape of the game grid and the chance to increase the number of ways to win also add an extra element of fun. On the downside, the graphics are nothing special, and the RTP doesn't stand out, even though it's slightly higher than average.
